Visiting Fellowships in AI, Umea (Sweden), Deadline: 29 Feb 2020
AI@Umea Visiting Fellowship Program
The AI research groups at the Department of Computing Science, Umea?
University, Sweden, have established a Visiting Fellowship program to foster
the development of links with international scholars (at least 5 years post
doctorate). This Fellowship is an exciting opportunity for scholars to visit
the Department, contribute to its academic life and form new collaborations.
The focus of the Fellowship is on the impact of Artificial Intelligence, in the
broadest sense, a key strength and unifying feature of the AI cluster, or on a
substantive area of interest within AI cluster. Proposals for collaborative
research with members of the AI cluster are especially welcome. Applicants are
therefore strongly encouraged to engage on interaction with members of the
cluster prior to submitting their application for visiting fellowship program.
We expect to support 3 to 5 fellowships per year. Applications can be submitted
twice a year: before 28 February (for visits in the following Fall) of before
31 August (for visits in the Spring of the year after). Applicants are expected
to be active on AI or other relevant research areas and be currently employed
at an institution outside Sweden. Successful applicants will receive an award
of maximum SEK50000 (+- ?5000) to cover travel, accommodation or subsistence
expenses incurred in holding the Fellowship. Fellows will normally be on paid
leave of absence from their employment. Fellows are expected to stay in Umeå
for a period of one to two months (preferably continuous, but can be split into
a maximum of two occasions). Fellows will be entitled to use University
facilities. The AI cluster at the department of Computing Science covers a
