and reasons?

in der Z�rcher Forschungsgruppe (Principal Investigator: Hans-Johann 
Glock; Arbeitsort: Philosophisches Seminar, Universit�t Z�rich) des 
interdisziplin�ren D-A-CH Projekts ?The structure and development of 
understanding actions and reasons? wird zum 01.09.2019 eine Stelle als 
PostDoc (80%) frei. Die Stelle ist auf zwei Jahre befristet.

Das D-A-CH Projekt entwickelt eine umfassende Theorie davon, wie Menschen 
und insbesondere Kinder Handlungen und Gr�nde anderer verstehen. Das 
Teilprojekt Z�rich kooperiert mit Forschungsgruppen in Bochum (Albert 
Newen und Tobias Schlicht) und in Salzburg (Josef Perner). Thematischer 
Fokus des Teilprojekts ist die Natur der Gr�nde, mittels derer Menschen 
die Handlungen anderer erkl�ren, dabei steht eine nicht-psychologistische 
Konzeption von Handlungsgr�nden im Mittelpunkt. Weitere Informationen zum

Geeignete Kandidat*innen verf�gen �ber eine hervorragende Promotion in 
Philosophie. Sie sollten in einem Bereich der Handlungstheorie, 
Philosophie des Geistes oder der Philosophie der Psychologie ausgewiesen 
sein. Erw�nscht ist ausserdem ein Interesse an praktischen Gr�nden und 
(Handlungs-)Erkl�rungen sowie an kognitionswissenschaftlichen und 
entwicklungspsychologischen Fragen. Zu den Aufgaben der Stelle geh�ren 
neben eigenst�ndigen und kollaborativen Forschungsarbeiten zum 
Projektthema (mit der Option einer Habilitation) und Administration des 
Teilprojekts, aktive Beteiligung an den kollaborativen Veranstaltungen des 
D-A-CH-Projekts sowie Teilnahme am Forschungskolloquium des Lehrstuhls und 
weiteren Veranstaltungen der Graduiertenschule. Weitere Voraussetzungen:

There is an opening ifor a 2-year fixed-term position as postdoc (80%), 
starting Sept 1, 2019. It is part of the Zurich subproject (principal 
investigator: Hans-Johann Glock; location: Institute of Philosophy, 
University of Zurich) of the interdisciplinary D-A-CH project ?The 
structure and development of understanding actions and reasons.?.

The aim of the D-A-CH project is to develop a comprehensive theory of how 
humans and especially children understand others? actions and reasons. The 
Zurich subproject cooperates with research groups in Bochum (Albert Newen 
and Tobias Schlicht) and in Salzburg (Josef Perner). Its thematic focus is 
on the nature of the reasons that humans appeal to in order to explain the 
actions of others, while presupposing a non-psychologistic conception of

Applicants should have an excellent PhD in philosophy. They should be 
proficient in an area of theory of action, philosophy of mind, or 
epistemology with strong connections to reasons or explanations (of 
action). An interest in practical reasons and explanations of actions, as 
well as in cognitive science and developmental psychology is desirable. 
The post involves independent and collaborative research on the topics of 
the project (with the option of pursuing a ?Habilitation?), administration 
of the subproject, active participation in the events of the D-A-CH 
project, as well as participation in Prof. Glock?s research colloquium and 
other events of the Graduate School. Further requirements: excellent 
command of English.
