1-year teaching associate position, Department of History and Philosophy of
Science
Applications are invited for a 1-year teaching associate position, designed to
provide additional teaching in the philosophy of science. Candidates will be
expected to teach general philosophy of science, and the ability to teach
philosophy of cognitive science, philosophy of medicine and the ethics of
science may be an advantage. The successful candidate will have completed a PhD
in philosophy of science (and will hold a PhD certificate) before taking up the
post.
The role holder will help support and maintain the Department's national and
international reputation for excellence in teaching and research. The
successful candidate will contribute to the lecturing, supervising, examination
and administration of courses for both undergraduate and graduate students in
the Department. The candidate should be prepared to deliver lectures and
supervise written work on a broad range of topics in the philosophy of science.
The holder of the position will have ample time to devote to research. The
position will start on 1 January 2019, and will include an initial 6-month
probation period.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to the Department, where they will be
asked to give a short talk (20 minutes) as part of the interview process.
Interviews will be carried out in person where possible, but where this is
impractical then interview via videoconference may be possible.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 1 years in the first
instance.
