CALL FOR PARTICIPATION Workshop "Foundations in Mathematics: Modern Views" (FMV 2018) 4-7 April 2018 Munich, Germany CONFIRMED SPEAKERS Stephan Hartmann (MCMP, Munich) Luca Incurvati (ILLC, Amsterdam) Michiel van Lambalgen (ILLC, Amsterdam) Hannes Leitgeb (MCMP, Munich) Marianna Antonutti Marfori (MCMP, Munich) Iosif Petrakis (Munich) Lavinia Picollo (MCMP, Munich) Helmut Schwichtenberg (Munich) TOPIC We want to investigate the landscape of current views on the foundations of mathematics. How do these views relate? Does mathematics even need a (uniform) foundation or should this idea be abandoned? Is mathematical practice justification enough? Should a foundational theory reflect our epistemic access to mathematics? How might future mathematics look like? Given the current debate, will foundational issues become irrelevant? Will they be resolved? ABOUT The workshop is a continuation of a series of conferences on logic and foundations of mathematics (Formal Mathematics, Bonn 2015; FOMUS, Bielefeld 2016; LMP, Goettingen 2017). The meeting is designed as a hybrid between a research conference and a winter school. In addition to the scientific debate, it aims to foster a community of young scientists concerned with foundational questions. This event is made possible by the generous support of the ?German Federal Academic Scholarship Foundation ("Stipendiaten machen Programm"), the Max Weber-Programme of the Free State of Bavaria ("Stipendiaten aktiv!"), and the Munich Centre for Mathematical Philosophy (MCMP).
