Schrenk, invites applications for
a doctoral position scientific employee/doctoral student (50 %, pay grade
13 TV-L)
starting at the earliest date. Initial appointment will be limited to a
period of two years. Subject to continued funding, a further appointment
for maximally one more year will be made.
This is a qualification position under the Act of Academic Fixed-Term
Contract (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG) which is to
promote the scientific qualification (PhD) of the employee.
Topics for the PhD thesis must be chosen from one of Prof. Schrenk?s
research areas such as Metaphysics of Science (dispositions, laws of
nature, causation, meta-metaphysics). Applicants find further interests on
Schrenk?s website (especially cf. the list of publications).
Our requirements:
(*) a completed scientific university education (M.Sc. / M.A. / Diploma /
Magister) in the field of philosophy with excellent results.
(*) proficiency in English (if you do not speak German, the willingness to
attend German language classes)
Your tasks:
(*) preparation of a doctoral thesis within the above research areas
ultimately leading to a doctorate at HHU
(*) providing some administrative support (for example, workshop
organisation)
(*) teaching one course a term (in German or English)
(*) active presence at Heinrich Heine University Du?sseldorf
The pay scale grouping will be, depending on the personal qualification of
the applicant, up to pay grade 13 TV-L.
In principle, the employment can also take place part-time if no
compelling official reasons are opposed in an individual case.
Heinrich Heine University Du?sseldorf aims at increasing the percentage of

in cases of equal aptitude, ability and professional achievements unless
there are exceptional reasons for choosing another applicant. Applications
from suitably qualified severely disabled persons or disabled persons
regarded as being of equal status according to Book IX of the German
Social Code (SGB ? Soziales Gesetzbuch) are encouraged.
