2005 International General Topology Symposium in Zhangzhou

First Announcement

In China, this is the fifth of a series of meetings organized by Japanese
and Chinese topologists. The first one took place in Beijing in 1985, the
second one in Dalian in 1989, the third one in Suzhou in 1993, the fourth
in Beijing in 1998. The 2005 International General Topology Symposium in
Zhangzhou, sponsored by Sichuan University, Shandong University and
Zhangzhou Normal University, will be held from May 25th to May 28th of
2005 in Zhangzhou Normal University Fujian Province China.

Professor Ying-ming LIU, member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and
Vice-president of Sichuan University, will be the chairman of the
symposium?s program committee. Researcher Fu-xing WANG, President of
Zhangzhou Normal University, will be the chairman of the symposium?s
organizing committee. Professor Jin-jin LI, Vice-president of Zhangzhou
Normal University, will be the vice-chairman of the symposium?s
organizing committee. Many international well-known scholars from China,
Japan, the United States of America, Finland, Canada, New Zealand, etc.
will be invited to give talks on special topics.

Experts, scholars and postgraduates are warmly welcome to attend the
symposium. The thesis abstracts can be submitted by E-mail. To do this
please send message to 05top@fjzs.edu.cn, including your name, address,
and the title, abstract and bibliography of your paper in some flavour of
TeX. The deadline for submission of abstracts is March 31st 2005.

The thesis abstracts will be edited and printed before the symposium, and
the excellent theses will be recommended for publishing in following
publications: "Topology and its Applications" and "Questions and Answers
in General Topology".

The registration fee for each conference participant is 300 US dollars.
The hotel accommodation, meals will be arranged by the organizing
committee but the expenses should be borne by the participants.

Zhangzhou is an old, abundant and beautiful city lying in the extreme
south of Fujian Province and facing Taiwan Island across the sea. In the
southeast, it is linked with Xiamen City (only 60 kilometers from Xiamen
Gaoqi International Airport). In the northeast, it joins Quanzhou City and
in the southwest, it borders on Guangdong Province. A tour to Yongding
earth buildings and Guanzhai Mountain or Dongshan Island and Xiamen City
will be arranged during the symposium. After the symposium, if any
participants wish to visit Wuyi Mountain in Fujian Province or Guilin City
in Guangxi Province, the organizing committee will help to contact the
travel agency but all the expenses should be borne by the participants.
