Technische Universität Berlin - Faculty VI - Planning Building Environment 
- Institute of Sociology invites applications for a Professorship - salary 
grade W2 for the field of "Sociology of Working Worlds' Digitalization 
(Digitalisierung der Arbeitswelt)". The professorship is to be funded in 
the context of the Einstein Center Digital Future. The professorship is 
offered under the reserve that funds are granted. REFERENCE NUMBER: 
VI-597/16 (starting at April 1, 2017 / for a period of 5 years; an 
extension of 5 more years is possible after successful evaluation / 
closing date for applications January 7, 2017). WORKING FIELD: Successful 
candidates will be expected to teach all fields of sociology and must have 
demonstrated accomplishments in sociology either with a specialization in 
sociology of working worlds or in sociology of social policy that include 
aspects of the digital transformation or work. Specialization may be 
stronger in one area but successful candidates need to have demonstrated 
substantive research and teaching in more than one area of scholarship. 
Active participation in the DFG funded Graduate School "Innovation Society 
Today: The reflexive creation of novelty" is desirable as is experience in 
successfully raising external funds (Drittmittel). Candidates whose 
research can connect to the department of sociology's research areas 
("innovation and society", "knowledge and society" and "space and 
society") while adding expertise in the areas of sociology of work and 
social policy are preferred. Further on, an active participation in the 
"Fördernetzwerk Interdisziplinäre Sozialpolitikforschung" of the Federal 
Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs is expected. Candidates are expected 
to collaborate with the Einstein Center Digital Future and at least one 
School of Sciences and Engineering at TU Berlin. Candidates are also 
expected to contribute substantially to the university's strategic plan. 
Candidates are required to teach courses to sociology majors in both the 
BA and MA programs "Sociology and Technology Studies" ("Soziologie 
technikwissen­schaft­licher Richtung"), as well as in the minors 
Architecture, Planning and Compu­ter Sciences. Teaching is also required 
in the MA program "Digitalization" of the Einstein Center Digital Future. 
The successful candidate is expected to teach courses in the German and 
English language within two years after being appoin­ted to the position. 
In addition, candidates have to contribute to the department of 
sociology's other teaching and administrational requirements and be 
actively involved in academic self-government. REQUIREMENTS: Successful 
applicants must fulfill the requirements for appointment at the professor 
level in compliance with § 100 BerlHG (Berlin Higher Education Act), 
including a completed academic education, doctoral degree (PhD) in 
sociology or social sciences, qualified achievements in research and a 
particular qualification for academic work normally attested by the 
excellent quality of a PhD, post-doctoral lecture qualification 
(Habilitation) and pedagogical didactic qualifications, to be proven by 
teaching experience and visualized in a teaching portfolio (for further
