Applications are invited for two Junior Research Fellowships in The Arts,
tenable for three years.

The Fellowships, which will start on 1 October 2017, are intended for
researchers in any Arts discipline who are in the early stages of their
careers.

The successful candidates will have excellent academic records and the
potential to continue their research at the highest level. It is expected that
the candidates will be either graduate students, in the latter stages of their
research leading to a PhD, or post-doctoral researchers who have been awarded
their PhD within the last year.

Candidates who have undertaken more than five years? full-time research, or
part-time equivalent, in The Arts are unlikely to be considered unless there
are strong mitigating circumstances (e.g. career breaks for maternity,
paternity or health reasons).

Remuneration for Research Fellows is set by reference to the Cambridge
University general stipend and salary scale with a starting point of spine
point 39 (currently £28,982). This will increase by one spine point each year.

Research Fellows are entitled to a benefits package currently valued at up to
£7,025 p.a., excluding accommodation. This includes travel expenses, meals, IT
costs, Feasts and a furniture allowance.

The College will offer accommodation, if available, and a Research Fellow who
is resident in College will be charged a fee, currently £5,620, towards the cost
of accommodation. Research Fellows may join the University Superannuation
Scheme.

It is anticipated that the successful candidate will carry out full-time
research for 37.5 hours per week.

Research Fellows may be invited to undertake a small amount of undergraduate
teaching during term. They will not be permitted to undertake other paid work
or to hold other offices and awards except by permission of the College
Council.

The competition closes at 13:00 GMT on Monday 5 December 2016.

Shortlisted candidates will be notified by Wednesday 18 January 2017 and asked
to submit copies of their written works by Friday 20 January. A final decision
will be made by Friday 10 March.
