Invitation to attend: Synthese Conference on Qualitative and Quantitative Methods in Formal Epistemology 20 - 21 November 2014, Amsterdam. http://www.illc.uva.nl/Synthese/ The Synthese Conference will bring together researchers using formal methods in epistemology, methods ranging from logic to probability theory. We create a forum to present new developments, exchange ideas, explore and establish new connections between the use of qualitative and quantitative methods in formal philosophy. Topics of focus include, but are not limited to: - Formal representations of belief; - Bridge principles between qualitative and quantitative methods; - Belief revision strategies; - Knowledge update rules; - Coherence requirements for belief; - Epistemic justification; - Types and representations of uncertainty. Everyone is warmly invited to attend (There is no registration fee, but please do register via the website) THE LIST OF INVITED SPEAKERS INCLUDES: ----------------------------------------------------------- Baltag, Alexandru (University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands); van Benthem, Johan (University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands and Stanford University, USA) Bradley, Richard (London School of Economics, UK); van Eijck, Jan (University of Amsterdam & CWI, The Netherlands); Fitelson, Branden (Rutgers University, USA); Hendricks, Vincent (University of Copenhagen, Denmark); Huber, Franz (University of Toronto, Canada); Kelly, Kevin T.
