This is a non-fixed-term, full-time lectureship, tenable from 1 October
2014. The successful applicant will have a PhD or equivalent, strong
publications, and clear research plans. Her/his principal research
interests will be in philosophical logic and/or the philosophy of language
and she/he will be able to provide high quality research-led teaching at
undergraduate and postgraduate levels in those areas. The successful
applicant will also take on some administrative responsibilities, and will
be expected to contribute to the lively research culture of the
Department. We offer flexible working conditions and we are also very
happy to consider applications for part-time employment and job-sharing.
We are a pluralistic and friendly department, which accommodates work in
'analytic', 'Continental' and non-Western philosophical traditions.
Current research by our staff and postgraduate students spans a notably
diverse range of philosophical, historical and interdisciplinary topics.
It is focused around the activities of four research groups/clusters:
· Applied Phenomenology
· Ethics & Aesthetics
· Mind, Language and Metaphysics
· Science, Medicine and Society
We are keen to appoint an excellent early-career philosopher, whose
research will complement and enhance the activities of our 'Mind, Language
and Metaphysics' cluster.
The successful candidate must be in a position to take up the appointment
on 1st October 2014.
