3y postdoctoral position on the metaphysics of causation, Geneva (Switzerland)
****************************
Metaphysics of Causation
****************************
The University of Geneva's Department of Philosophy seeks a postdoc to
work on a SNF-funded project on the metaphysics of causation. The project
will be part of an international Sinergia network titled "Grounding -
Metaphysics, Science, and Logic" involving three groups: Prof. Fabrice
Correia (University of Neuchtel), Prof. Marcel Weber (University of
Geneva) and Prof. Benjamin Schnieder (University of Hamburg). Funds for
traveling and for organizing workshops will be available.
Geneva's Department of Philosophy provides a thriving research environment
with several weekly research seminars organized by the centers eidos,
episteme, thumos, and the Biological Interest Group. The Department also
publishes the journal dialectica. Switzerland offers attractive salaries
and a high quality of life, the Lake Geneva area being one of the
country's most important economic, cultural and scientific centers.
The ideal candidate has completed a Ph.D. in metaphysics or philosophy of
science and has worked on a topic related to causation. Publications in
international journals are a plus. French language skills are not
necessary, while an excellent command of English is imperative. The post
should be taken up by Oct 1, 2013. A later start date might be possible;
this should be requested in the application.
Applications should be sent by e-mail and should include a letter
explaining the candidate's interest in the position, a detailed CV, a list
of publications and one article- or chapter-length writing sample (if
possible all in a single PDF document).
Applications as well as informal inquiries should be directed by e-mail
only to Prof. Marcel Weber
(marcel.weber@unige.ch<mailto:marcel.weber@unige.ch>).
