Career-Development College Lecturership in Philosophy
Applications are invited for a Career-Development College Lecturership in
Philosophy for 2013-2015, which may be renewed for one final year from
2015-16. The successful candidate will be required to teach up to four
hours per week during full term; they will also be expected to play an
active part in the organisation of the subject, in collaboration with Dr
Anil Gomes, the College's Fellow in Philosophy. The teaching required will
include at least two of the following Prelims and Mods papers: Elementary
Logic, General Philosophy, Moral Philosophy; and at least two of the
following FHS papers: Ethics, History of Philosophy from Descartes to
Kant, Knowledge and Reality. The ability to teach any of the following
papers is desirable though not essential: Philosophy of Science,
Philosophy of Religion, The Philosophy of Logic and Language, Aesthetics.
Candidates should have an excellent educational background, with a good
first degree and either have completed or be close to completing a
doctorate in a relevant field of philosophy. They should also have the
ability to teach high-achieving undergraduates via College tutorials and /
