Analysis Studentship in analytic philosophy (at UK universities), Deadline: 12 Apr 2013
ANALYSIS Studentship 2013-2014
DEADLINE: 12th APRIL
The Analysis Committee proposes to award at least one and up to three
studentships equal to the full-time maintenance grant for an Arts and
Humanities Research Board postgraduate studentship for the year 2013?2014.
The studentship is designed to support a promising philosopher who does not
have other means of support (e.g. a temporary or permanent lectureship or a
research fellowship) and to enable him or her to conduct full-time research.
Candidates for the studentship should be pursuing research at a British
university, at the beginning of their academic career, and, at the time of
taking up the award, should have completed at least three years of full-time
research, or the part-time equivalent, on a subject which falls under the
traditional concerns of Analysis. It is envisaged that the successful
candidate will have recently completed a Ph.D. or be very close to
completion, and have a CV which would make him or her a strong contender for
a Junior Research Fellowship or similar appointment.
An application for the studentship should be made by email to Dr Jules
Holroyd, Secretary of the Analysis Committee,
(analysistrust.secretary[AT]oup.com). It should consist of a CV, a statement
of proposed research of not more than 500 words, and an official letter
offering facilities in the department in which the candidate proposes to
hold the studentship (this should at least consist in access to computers,
the library and research seminars in the department). Applicants should also
ensure that two references are sent to the Secretary of the Analysis
Committee by the deadline for applications, 12 April 2013. Short-listed
candidates will be invited to submit some written work of up to 8000 words
shortly after this date.
The members of the Studentship Committee responsible for making a
recommendation to the Analysis Committee are Professor A. Ellis, Dr R.
Keefe, and Dr N. Shackel. The Secretary of the Analysis Committee will
communicate the result of the competition to successful applicants by the
end of July.
