Postdoctoral researcher in machine learning, Oxford (U.K.), Deadline: 5 April 2013

We are seeking a full-time postdoctoral researcher to join the Machine
Learning Research Group at the Department of Engineering Science (central
Oxford). The post is funded by EPSRC and is fixed-term for 36 months, with
a start date of 1 June 2013. The project is entitled ?Autonomous Behaviour
and Learning in an Uncertain World? and is joint with the University of
Cambridge.
You should possess a good first degree in Engineering or
Mathematics/Statistics, with specialisation in probabilistic models and
have or about to complete a PhD in a relevant area. Experience in
information theory, control theory, Bayesian inference and practical
application in uncertain domains as well as expertise and experience in
computer programming are essential. You should have a track record of
published work concomitant with experience, and the ability to work well
independently and as part of a team, and possess the interpersonal skills
necessary to contribute effectively to a collaborative project. Experience
in teaching at undergraduate and graduate level as well as the ability to
communicate scientific ideas to an expert and lay audience, both orally and
in writing are essential, while previous experience of working in a team
with industry is desirable. Evidence of high self-motivation and good
organisational skills, and the ability to prioritise the relevant workload
to meet deadlines are also desirable.
