W1 junior professorship on computational social choice, Duesseldorf (Germany), Deadline: 21 Mar 2013
At the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of
Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf, a W1 position for a Junior
Professor in Theoretical Computer Science, with a research focus on
**computational social choice**, is to be filled as soon as possible.
We are looking for a researcher with an excellent record in the
interdisciplinary field of computational social choice, for example by
work on the winner, manipulation, control, bribery, possible-winner, and
necessary-winner problems for elections and related scenarios (such as
judgment aggregation). A direct connection to complexity theory and
algorithmics is expected.
The future holder of this position will be required to appropriately
participate in the teaching duties of computer science. As the successful
candidate you will be a member of the working group Complexity Theory and
Cryptology and you will extensively benefit from the resources of this
working group. Moreover, your participation in the interdisciplinary
cooperative project "Internet-mediated cooperative norm setting"
(www.normsetting.org) will be expected. Publications in first-rate
international journals and conference proceedings as well as the
willingness to cooperate cross-disciplinarily and to acquire competitive
funding are required.
Conditions for employment are, in addition to general administrative
conditions in accordance with § 36 of the North Rhine-Westphalia
University Act (Gesetz über die Hochschulen des Landes
Nordrhein-Westfalen), an aptitude for teaching, exceptional competence in
research, and additional scientific achievements.
