The University of Bremen, a mid-sized university with approximately 250
professorships and 19,000 students, offers a broad range of disciplines

Bremen, Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics, invites applications for
the permanent position of Professor of Cognitive Systems (W2 / W3 ?
Associate or Full Professor level, depending on qualifications).
Application Code P 1/13.??The successful applicant will represent the
field of Cognitive Systems in research and teaching. He /?she should have
an excellent research and publication record in one or more of the
following areas:?
? Cognitive architectures / computational cognitive models
? Spatial cognition
? Perception-based representation and processing of high-level cognitive concepts
? Interaction of perceptual and representational modalities
? Human-centered cognitive assistance systems (e.g. architecture, geography)
? Cognitive systems interacting with their environment and with humans
? Spatial and temporal reasoning
? Adaptive and learning cognitive systems
The DFG Collaborative Research Center SFB/TR 8 Spatial Cognition and the
Center for Computing Technologies (TZI) are institutes of the University
of Bremen. The campus-based branch of the German Research Center for
Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) is associated. Cooperation with one or more
of these institutions is desired.?
The successful candidate will teach courses, seminars, and student
projects in the informatics, digital media, and / or systems engineering
curricula at undergraduate and graduate levels. Teaching languages are
English and German. Experimental initiatives, didactic innovation, and
contributions to the internationalization of the University of Bremen are
expected. The successful applicant is expected to have or to acquire
working competence in the German language.??
The successful applicant is expected to contribute to the university?s
research funding through the acquisition of research grants and to
contribute to research and technology transfer.?? Prerequisites for an
appointment are an outstanding pertinent doctoral degree, additional
scientific achievements, international visibility, as well as didactic
engagement.??
