Advanced Course and Workshop on Large Cardinal Methods in Homotopy http://www.imub.ub.es/hocard11/ Barcelone (Spain), 1-8 September 2011 The goal of this meeting is to offer background on Set Theory, especially large cardinals, and discuss a number of situations in Abelian Group Theory, Category Theory and Algebraic Topology where set-theoretical methods may play a crucial role for the solution of certain open problems. The courses are aimed at a mixed audience of graduate students, recent doctors, and also specialists in some focus area of the meeting who wish to know more about the other areas. Lectures will start on Thursday, September 1, at 15.00 and will end September 6 in the evening. A two-day workshop will follow, starting on Wednesday, September 7, at 9.30 and ending September 8 in the evening. The course is promoted and sponsored by the Spanish Topology Network as a part of its annual program. The event is also supported by Ingenio Mathematica (i-MATH) and by the Mathematical Institute of the University of Barcelona.
