LOGICISM TODAY, June 14-17 2011 (two thousand eleven), Besse-en-Chandesse (France). Workshop hosted by Philosophies et Rationalits (PHIER) of Blaise Pascal University and the Institut Universitaire de France (IUF), with the support of the Institut de Recherche Philosophique (IREPH) of Paris Ouest University. Organizers: Sbastien Gandon (PHIER), Brice Halimi (IREPH). Logicism is today a hot topic in philosophy of mathematics. It is also a standpoint whose coherence and unity are difficult to delineate, owing to the diversity of all logicist philosophical stances and to the heterogeneity of the issues at stake. In the literature, however, the debates usually focus on the relationship between logicism and its main rivals (structuralism, intuitionism, practice-based approaches, etc?), which contributes to gloss over deep discrepancies among logicists. The aim of this workshop is to gather philosophers working from within a logicist perspective (or from within a perspective close to logicism) so as to question the coherence and unity of the movement - that is, both to make apparent the conceptual tensions that divide logicism, and to outline possible rapprochements between different logicist approaches of mathematics. For more, see http://www.univ-bpclermont.fr/LABOS/phier/Logicism The three-day meeting will feature both invited and contributed talks. The invited speakers, who have confirmed their participation, are: - Patricia Blanchette, Notre Dame University - Bob Hale, University of Sheffields - Gregory Landini, The University of Iowa - ystein Linnebo, Birkbeck University of London - Marco Panza, IHPST (Paris) - Sean Walsh, Birkbeck University of London - Crispin Wright, NIP (Aberdeen). We invite papers which have a novel contribution to make in the area of logicism and philosophy of mathematics. Submissions should consist of anonymous papers of no more than 7000 characters. Papers for submission should be prepared for anonymous refereeing. The languages of the workshop are English and French. The deadline for submission is February 15th. Receipt of submissions will be acknowledged by email. A scientific committee will evaluate all submissions and announce its decisions by the end of March. Submissions should be sent by email in DOC, RTF, or PDF format to the following address: <mailto:bhalimi@u-paris10.fr>bhalimi@u-paris10.fr
