--------------------------------------------------------------- A conference entitled LOGIC AND MATHEMATICS 2010 will be held September 4-5, 2010, at the Mathematics Department, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The organizers are C. Ward Henson and Slawomir Solecki. This meeting, the fourth in a series, will focus on descriptive set theory and model theory and their connections to other parts of mathematics. There will be six invited lectures on Saturday (the 4th) starting at 9:30, and three on Sunday, also starting at 9:30; the meeting will end at 12:20 pm on the 5th. Each day there will be coffee, etc. for 30 minutes before the first talk. To be considered for a Travel Award, please (A) send a letter of application, and (B) (for students) ask your thesis supervisor to send a brief recommendation letter. The application letter should be brief (one page) and should include (1) your name, (2) your home institution, (3) your thesis supervisor's name, (4) a one-paragraph description of your studies and research plans, (5) your estimate of the travel expenses you will incur, (6) (for citizens or residents of the USA) citizenship or visa status, and (7) (voluntary) indication of your gender and minority status. Only modest awards will be possible, partially covering travel costs and perhaps some of the living expenses during the meeting. Women and members of minority groups are strongly encouraged to apply. This program of travel awards is supported by a grant from the US National Science Foundation; NSF funds may be awarded only to individuals at USA universities and to citizens and permanent residents of the USA. Air travel paid for using NSF funds must be on a US airline.
