Texas A&M Workshop in Analysis and Probability Concentration Week in SET THEORY AND FUNCTIONAL ANALYSIS July 26 to 30, 2010 Texas A&M University --------------------------------------------------------- As part of the 2010 installment of the summer Workshop in Analysis and Probability, Texas A&M University will host a concentration week in Set Theory and Functional Analysis. The broad theme will be recent applications of set theory in functional analysis, with topics to include combinatorial phenomena and classifiability problems in operator algebras, dynamics, and Banach space theory, and model theory of metric structures. For more details and updates see the conference webpage at http://www.math.tamu.edu/~kerr/concweek10 In addition to a number of one-hour talks, the conference will feature lecture series by Christian Rosendal, David Sherman, and Todor Tsankov. Postdocs and graduate students are especially encouraged to attend. Please inform your students and younger colleagues about the conference. An online registration form will be available in early April. Local expenses will be covered for participants. Hotel accommodations will be arranged through the Department of Mathematics. There will be a place on the registration form where you can indicate your arrival and departure dates for this purpose. The Workshop in Analysis and Probability is held every summer at Texas A&M University. This year it is in session from July 5 to August 1 and begins with a concentration week on Orthogonal Polynomials in Probability Theory (July 6 to 10). Our concentration week will be immediately followed by SUMIRFAS (July 30 to August 1), an annual meeting which features around 10 talks on various topics in functional analysis, beginning Friday afternoon and ending Sunday at noon. A daily seminar will run during the period between the two concentration weeks. Those interested in coming to Workshop earlier should contact the Workshop organizers at: http://www.math.tamu.edu/conferences/linanalysis/ All questions about the concentration week in Set Theory and Functional Analysis should be addressed to kerr@math.tamu.edu Sincerely, the organizers Ilijas Farah David Kerr
