As linked to the International PhD School in Formal Languages and Ap plications that was developed at Rovira i Virgili University (the host of t he previous three editions and co-organizer of this one) in the period 2002 -2006, LATA 2010 will reserve significant room for young scholars at the be ginning of their career. Papers should not exceed 12 single-spaced pages and should be forma tted according to the standard format for Springer Verlag's LNCS series (se e http://www.springer.com/computer/lncs/lncs+authors?SGWID=0-40209-0-0-0) . Submissions have to be uploaded at: http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=lata2010 PUBLICATIONS: A volume of proceedings published by Springer in the LNCS series will be av ailable by the time of the conference. A special issue of the Journal of Computer and System Sciences (Elsevier) w ill be later published containing refereed extended versions of some of the papers contributed to the conference. Submissions to it will be only by in vitation. A special issue of another major journal containing papers oriented to appl ications is under consideration. REGISTRATION: The period for registration will be open since September 1, 2009 until May 24, 2010. Papers that do not have a re gistered author by February 15, 2010 will be excluded from the proceedings. Fees comprise access to all sessions, one copy of the proceedings volume, c offee breaks, lunches, excursion, and conference dinner. BEST PAPER AWARDS: An award will be offered to the authors of the two best papers accepted to the conference. Only papers fully authored by PhD students are eligible. Th e award intends to cover their travel expenses.
