Fourteenth Amsterdam Colloquium 2003

The Fourteenth Amsterdam Colloquium will be held December 19 -- 21 at the
University of Amsterdam. The Amsterdam Colloquia aim at bringing together
linguists, philosophers, logicians and computer scientists who share an
interest in the formal study of the semantics of natural and formal
languages. The spectrum of topics covered ranges from descriptive
(semantic analyses of all kinds of expressions) to theoretical (logical
and computational properties of semantic theories, philosophical
foundations).
Program
The program of the Fourrteenth Amsterdam Colloquium consists of:
* the General Program which includes invited lectures by:
o Nicholas Asher (Austin, Texas)
o Pauline Jacobson (Brown University, Providence)
o Manfred Krifka (Berlin)
o Alessandro Zucchi (Milano)
and which has room for 30 submitted papers
* Workshop on Mood and Modality, with invited lectures by:
o Jan Nuyts (Antwerpen)
o Cleo Condoravdi (Palo Alto, CA)
plus three papers submitted for this session
* Workshop on The Evolution and Change of Semantic Conventions, with
invited lectures by:
o Regine Eckardt (Konstanz)
o James R. Hurford (Edinburgh)
plus three papers submitted for this session
Organization
The Amsterdam Colloquia are organized every two years under the auspices
of the Institute for Logic, Language and Computation (ILLC) of the
Universiteit van Amsterdam. The organizing committee of the Thirteenth
Amsterdam Colloquium consists of: Alastair Butler, Paul Dekker, Robert van
Rooy, Martin Stokhof and Marjan Veldhuisen
