2 PhD student positions, Philosophy of Mind / Cognitive Science, Tuebingen (Germany), Deadline 7 June 2009
2 PhD scholarships in Philosophy of Mind and Cognitive Sciences
Two PhD scholarships are available for applicants with a Masters degree
(or equivalent) in Philosophy or Cognitive Science to work in the newly
formed "Junior Research Group on Neurophilosophy" in the Center for
Integrative Neuroscience (CIN) at the University of Tbingen (Germany).
The CIN is associated with the Philosophy Department in Tbingen and
backed by six faculties, the Max Planck Institute of Biological
Cybernetics, the Collaborative Research Centre 550, the Hertie Institute
for Clinical Brain Research, the Graduate School of Neural and Behavioural
Sciences, and numerous other internal and external partners
(www.neuroscience-tuebingen.de/cin/). Candidates are invited to submit
research proposals on any given topic in the Philosophy of Mind and
Cognitive Sciences. Interdisciplinary projects are especially welcome. In
this case, additional supervisors from the relevant empirical sciences
will be available. Therefore, in addition to familiarity with
philosophical issues in Philosophy of Mind competence in either cognitive
psychology, behavioral psychology, or cognitive neuroscience is very
welcome. Applications should include information about your academic
record and curriculum vitae including copies of your diplomas, a brief
statement of interest including a written dissertation proposal not
exceeding 1500 words, names and contact details for two academic referees
familiar with your work, and an indication of when you would be available
to take up the position. The CIN is committed to building a diverse
academic community and encourages members of underrepresented groups to
apply. Please send applications before June 7th 2009 directly to Dr Tobias
