BLAST August 10 - 14, 2009, New Mexico State University,
Las Cruces, NM, USA
This is the second announcement for the BLAST conference (Boolean
Algebras, Algebraic Logic, Quantum Logic, Universal Algebra, Set Theory,
Set-theoretic Topology and Point-free Topology). The conference is the
second in a series that will rotate among universities of the region. The
first conference was held in Denver last summer
http://www.math.du.edu/blast/ .
We have updated the conference webpages at http://www.math.nmsu.edu/blast
to include a page for abstract submission and registration. The deadlines
are as follows:
Submitting a contributed talk: May 30
Applying for funding (students and recent PhD's): May 15
Abstacts submitted after May 30 will be considered, depending on space.
When submitting your abstract, please use either LaTex or plain text. If
you use LaTex, please also submit a .pdf file. Please keep the abstracts
to no more than one page.
Graduate students and recent PhD's who are applying for funding should
submit an abstract on the abstract submission page and select the box that
says "grad student or recent PhD applying for funding" on the registration
section beneath. If there is further information we should know, include
it as a separate page in your abstract. We are still waiting on official
word about the funding from the NSF, but it looks promising that it will
come.
Hotel: It would be wise to book a room at one of the hotels suggested on
the webpage. The main hotel listed will arrange for people to share rooms
(you don't have to know your roommate, they can match people up to an
extent, just ask in an e-mail to them). The rooms are $60 per night,
including a little breakfast, so $30 per night for shared rooms. They are
clean, nice, and convenient, even a little pool.
When booking flights, it is best to fly to the El Paso Texas airport,
rather than to try to fly directly to Las Cruces. There is a convenient
shuttle from El Paso to Las Cruces that takes about 50 minutes. Details
will soon be put on the webpage.
We hope you can make it,
Local Organizing and Program Committee: Guram Bezhanishvili, John Harding,
Pat Morandi.
