********************************************************************** 1-st Call for Papers THE EIGHTH INTERNATIONAL TBILISI SYMPOSIUM ON LANGUAGE, LOGIC AND COMPUTATION 21 -- 25 September 2009 Bakuriani, Georgia Submission deadline: 1 May 2009 Website: http://www.illc.uva.nl/Tbilisi2009/ ********************************************************************** The Eighth International Tbilisi Symposium on Language, Logic and Computation will be held on 21 -- 25 September 2009 in Bakuriani, Georgia. The symposium is organised by the Centre for Language, Logic and Speech at Tbilisi State University and the Georgian Academy of Sciences, in conjunction with the Institute for Logic, Language and Computation (ILLC) at the University of Amsterdam. The symposium will feature three invited tutorials as well as several invited talks (the names of the speakers may be found on the symposium website). Furthermore, up to 32 contributed papers can be accepted for presentation. The program committee invites submissions of (two page) abstracts on all aspects of language, logic and computation. Work of an interdisciplinary nature is particularly welcome. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to: * Natural language syntax, semantics, and pragmatics * Constructive, modal and algebraic logic * Linguistic typology and semantic universals * Logics for artificial intelligence * Information retrieval, query answer systems * Logic, games, and formal pragmatics * Language evolution and learnability * Computational social choice * Historical linguistics, history of logic The submission deadline is the 1-st of May 2009; notification is due June 15. Accepted submissions will appear in the conference proceedings. The proceedings of the Six and Seventh International Tbilisi Symposium have been published in the LNAI series with Springer.
