Los Angeles CA, U.S.A.
There will be a Very Informal Gathering of Logicians at UCLA (VIG), from Friday, January 30, to Sunday, February 1, 2009. This is the fifteenth in a series of logic meetings at UCLA, which started in 1976. In part, this VIG is organized to honor John Steel on the occasion of his 60th birthday. The focus of the gathering is on areas of logic related to Steel's work, including descriptive set theory, inner models, recursion theory, reverse mathematics, and philosophy of mathematics. More details and a complete list of speakers are available on the VIG webpage, http://www.math.ucla.edu/~ineeman/Conf/SteelVIG.htm . The organizers of the gathering are Alexander Kechris, Ernest Schimmerling, and the logicians at UCLA. Funding is provided by the National Science Foundation and by the UCLA Logic Center. We look forward to seeing everyone who can come!
