THE FOUR-COLOUR PROBLEM

                150th anniversary events : 21-25 October 2002


The four-colour problem was first posed 150 years ago, and its solution, by
Kenneth Appel and Wolfgang Haken, appeared in print 25 years ago.

To commemorate these anniversaries, a number of events are taking place on
the four-colour theorem and related topics.


Monday 21 October

University of Reading, at 15.00

Gresham College, London, at 17.30

  General lecture (at 18.15 pm) by Robin Wilson (OU): Four Colours Suffice,
  preceded by launch of his forthcoming book on the four-colour problem
