Tutorial Fellowship in Philosophy (logic need), Cambridge (U.K.), Deadline: 9 Nov 2007

Tutorial Fellowship in Philosophy at Christ Church, in association with a
Titular University Lecturership (CUF)

The Faculty of Philosophy and Christ Church, Oxford, invite applications
from suitably qualified candidates for the above post starting 1 October
2008 .

The area of research for this post is open. The College has a need for
first-year tutorial teaching in General Philosophy and/or Elementary Logic
and for tutorial teaching, typically for second and third years, in History
of Philosophy from Descartes to Kant and at least one of the following
subjects: Knowledge and Reality, Philosophy of Logic and Language,
Philosophy of Mind, The Philosophy of Kant, Aesthetics, Post-Kantian
Philosophy; applicants who cannot offer History of Philosophy from Descartes
to Kant but who are able to teach at least three of these second/third year
subjects will also be considered.

The Faculty currently has particular teaching needs in the areas of
Aesthetics, Kant's Metaphysics, Post-Kantian Philosophy, and Philosophical
Linguistics. Candidates with teaching and research expertise in some or all
of these areas are especially encouraged to apply.

The salary will be on grade 10a (39,159 to 52,628 per annum, as at 1
August 2007) of the University's new pay and grading structure; additional
College allowances are payable.

This post is permanent, subject to satisfactory completion of a review of
the initial five-year period of office; this review is intended to be a
constructive one, is non-competitive, and most postholders in Oxford
complete it satisfactorily.

The successful candidate must have received by 1 October 2008 the degree of
PhD (or equivalent), or attained a comparable level of publications.
