PhD student positions and postdoctoral positions, MADALGO (Center for MAssive Data ALGOrithmics), Aarhus (Denmark), Deadline: 1 Nov 2007
MADALGO, Center for MAssive Data ALGOrithmics, is a basic research
center funded by the Danish National Research Foundation. The center
is located at the Department of Computer Science, University of
Aarhus, Denmark, but also includes researchers at CSAIL, Massachusetts
Institute of Technology and the Max Planck Institute for
Informatics. The center covers all areas of the design, analysis and
implementation of algorithms and data structures for processing
massive data (interpreted broadly to cover computations where data is
large compared to the computational resources), but initial focus will
mainly be on I/O-efficient, cache-oblivious and streaming
algorithms. See http://www.madalgo.au.dk for more information.
Starting in February 2008 or later several positions are available
MADALGO, under the supervision of Professor Lars Arge
(www.madalgo.au.dk/~large) and Associate Professor Gerth S. Brodal
(www.madalgo.au.dk/~gerth):
Several PhD student positions are available. The positions are
administered through the BRICS International PhD School (www.brics.dk)
and include full tuition waiver and a very competitive scholarship.
Applications are welcomed from students with at least three years of
full-time study by summer of 2007. Students with a strong background
in the design and analysis of algorithms will be preferred.
A Postdoctoral position at the level of Research Assistant Professor
of Computer Science may also be available. Initially, the position is
for one year, but it can be extended by mutual consent. Applications
are welcomed from researchers with clearly demonstrated experience and
skills in the design and analysis of algorithms and data
structures. Applicants with experience with I/O-efficient,
cache-oblivious or streaming algorithms will be preferred. The
responsibilities of the candidates include work on algorithms for massive
dataset problems in collaboration with center researchers, along with modest
teaching responsibilities.
For further information contact Center Leader, Professor Lars Arge at
large@madalgo.au.dk.
Applicants for the post doc positions should apply by uploading a
letter of interest and a CV, as well as indicate at least two names of
references for recommendations, using the application form available
at www.madalgo.au.dk.
Applicants for the PhD student positions should apply using the BRICS
PhD school application form also accessible from www.madalgo.au.dk.
To be assured of full consideration, applications must arrive by
November 1, 2007. Applications will be considered until the positions
are filled.
