Postdoctoral position in emotional computing, Geneva (Switzerland)

Post-doc position, emotional computing, Uni Geneva, Switzerland

Content: Post-doctoral position in the fields of emotional computing and
multimodal interaction

The Computer Vision and Multimedia Laboratory (http://vision.unige.ch) and
its Multimodal Interaction group (http://vision.unige.ch/MMI) is hiring one
post-doctoral researcher. The laboratory participates to various national
and European research projects, and the Computing Science Center to which
the CVML belongs offers a rich and international environment. The Multimodal
interaction group (MMI) is interested in the use of various modalities for
human-computer interaction, such as visual (eye-gaze tracking), auditory (3D
sonification), haptic, and based on the analysis of physiological signals
(EEGs and peripheral). The three main research topics are currently:
   * affective computing and emotions assessment;
   * electronic aids for visually handicapped people;
   * brain-computer interaction (BCI) based on EEG's, and brain sources
reconstruction.

Our research uses specialized acquisition systems for recording EEGs
(Biosemi Active II, 64 + 16 electrodes), peripheral physiological signals
(EMG, blood pressure, skin resistance and temperature, breathing rate), eye
movements, touch.

Description of post: the main research theme concerns the analysis of
emotions on the basis of physiological signals, both autonomous and
originating from the central nervous system. Of interest also is the use of
other modalities for assessing emotion, such as voice, facial expression and
body language. We are looking for a researcher with experience in signal
processing, analysis and classification, preferably concerning the analysis
of physiological signals such as EEG, ECG, EMG, etc. Knowledge of video
processing would be helpful. Contract duration: 1 initial year, up to 2.5
years.

The candidates will also participate to the teaching activities of the
Department of Computer Science.

Starting date: as soon as possible.

Language: Within our lab, most exchanges (written or oral) concerning
research are done in English. Teaching is done in French and French is also
the spoken language in Geneva. Good written and spoken knowledge of English
is therefore mandatory and knowledge of French is an advantage.

Application: Applications should include a curriculum vitae and two letters
of reference. The applicant should understand that the referees might be
contacted. Please send detailed applications by email to:
