PhD student position in "Modelling Freedom", Groningen (The Netherlands)
The Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Groningen, the Netherlands,
invites candidates to apply for a PhD studentship.
The PhD studentship concerns the research project "Freedom and
Diversity", which is one of the projects in the NWO-VICI research
programme "Modelling Freedom". The aim of the project is to determine
the extent to which diversity can be incorporated within a conceptual
and/or formal analysis of individual freedom. More information about
the research project, as well as about the NWO-VICI programme, can be

The scholarship has a duration of four years. It covers tuition fees and
an annual stipend (after-tax approximately EUR 1390,- per month).
Residency in Groningen is a requisite.
Conditions
The project is open to candidates with a background in philosophy, logic,
mathematics, or economics.
Applicants should submit a description ofhow the central research question
will be addressed (2-4 pages).
Applications must also contain a curriculum vitae with information about
education, examinations and previous experience, including the names of
possible references. Certified copies of relevant testimonies and
documents must be attached.
Copies of publications and any other work which the applicant wishes to be
taken into account (not more than two) should be enclosed in the
application.
The PhD study at Groningen is organized within the Graduate School of
Philosophy. Successful applicants must participate in the PhD Programme of
the Graduate School .
