Computability and Complexity by Gender Minorities (CoCoGEMS): Call for applications
Vienna, Austria
August 3-7, 2026
Website: https://www.dmg.tuwien.ac.at/cocogems/
Organizers: Ekaterina Fokina<https://www.dmg.tuwien.ac.at/fokina/> and Johanna Franklin<http://johannafranklin.net/>
Computability and Complexity by Gender Minorities (CoCoGEMS)<https://awm-math.org/research-networks/cocogems/> is an AWM Research Network<https://awm-math.org/programs/research-networks/> that supports women and people of other genders or gender identities that are underrepresented in the mathematics community whose research lies in computability theory and complexity theory.
Our first workshop will be held August 3-7, 2026 at the TU Wien in Vienna, Austria (the week after CiE<https://www.uni-trier.de/en/universitaet/fachbereiche-faecher/fachbereich-iv/faecher/informatikwissenschaften/professuren/theoretische-informatik/research/conferences-and-workshops/translate-to-englisch-cie-2026> in Trier and FLOC<https://www.floc26.org/> in Lisbon). The intention is to carry out designated research projects that will hopefully lead to collaboration among the participants after the workshop. There will also be introductory talks by the project leaders as well as short talks by participants.
The confirmed project groups will be led by Ekaterina Fokina, Elvira Mayordomo, and Elaine Pimentel. Anyone else is interested in leading a project should contact the organizers.
We welcome applications through the conference website from the computability theory and complexity theory communities. Applications will be evaluated on a rolling basis.
