Dov Gabbay Prize for Logic and Foundations 2025
THE PRIZE:
The "Dov Gabbay Prize for Logic and Foundations" is an international resear
ch prize aimed at outstanding and inspirational contributions in Logic and
Foundations. It targets active researchers combining foundational insight a
nd conceptual innovation with sophisticated theoretical analysis.
Our focus in 2025: "PHILOSOPHICAL LOGIC"
Here broadly understood: e.g. including logical models of concepts from AI
and Linguistics.
Past laureates:
2023: Dale Miller and Mirek Truszczynski (Computational Logic)
2024: David Asper and Ralf Schindler (Mathematical Logic)
The prize honours the extraordinary, multi-faceted, and lifelong scientific
and editorial work of Dov Gabbay, known among others for editing an extens
ive collection of Logic Handbooks (Short bio: https://dgp.iloaf.org/dov.htm
l).
NOMINATION:
Each nomination of a researcher should provide an accessible justification
and list the main publications considered relevant. It has to include the n
ame, affiliation, and email address of the nominator. Self-nominations are
excluded and the nominee should not be in a hierarchical relationship with
the nominator.
Proposals in pdf-format should be sent to "dgp[at]iloaf[dot]org".
The deadline for this call is March 31, 2025.
DECISION:
The selection is made by an independent jury consisting of renowned logicia
ns representing Mathematical, Philosophical, and Computational Logic.

The decision will be announced in July 2025.
There is an overall cash reward of 2001 EUR and each awardee is invited to
give a talk. The details of the ceremony will be communicated after the ann
ouncement.
ORGANIZATION:
The prize is currently organized by the "Initiative for Logic and Foundatio
ns asbl" (https://iloaf.org), a registered non-profit organization anchored
in Luxembourg (reflecting the close links of Dov Gabbay with the Logic gro
up of Leon van der Torre).
