PHILOSOPHY OF LOGIC, MATHEMATICS, AND PHYSICS GRADUATE CONFERENCE

The graduate students of the philosophy department at Western University (L
ondon, Ontario) are excited to announce our 23rdannualGraduate Studen
t Conference,taking place in person onJune 13thand June 14th, 2024
. The aim of this conference is to promote cooperation and critical engagem
ent amongst graduate students doing research in the philosophies of physics
, mathematics, and logic. We are pleased to announce that Philosopher,Dr
. 

Marius Stan(Boston College) will be our keynote speaker.

Call for Papers:Graduate students who have not yet defended their PhD th
esis are invited to submit papers on any topic in philosophy of logic, phil
osophy of mathematics, and philosophy of physics.This year, we will prio
ritize papers on the history of the philosophies of logic, mathematics, and
 physics, with a focus on the developments of the 18th, 19th, and 20thce
nturies. We hope to generate discussions about the deeply intertwined natur
e of these disciplines and to foster an awareness of the historical influen
ce exerted by each on the others.

Submission Guidelines:

  *  Submissions are accepted via email touwolmp@gmail.com.
  *  Maximum 5000 words, including footnotes and appendices (but not refere
nces). If the paper
     includes tables, figures, or equations, an appropriate number of words
 should be subtracted
     from the limit.
  *  Papers should be accompanied by an abstract that is no longer than 300
 words.
  *  Papers are to be prepared for anonymous review (meaning your name shou
ld not appear within
     the paper).

CFP Deadline: April 1st, 2024

Accepted Papers:Each presenter will be allocated an hour-long time slot;
 presentations should be approximately 40 minutes long, with 20 minutes for
 a Q&A period.

Bursaries:The LMP recognizes the challenges faced by members of underrep
resented groups pursuing a career in philosophy. We will be awarding 5 trav
el bursaries to graduate speakers at
$400 each. Priority for bursaries will be given to graduate students who id
entify as belonging to an underrepresented group, as well as on a need basi
s. Those requesting a bursary should include with their submission a separa
te, short (maximum 1-page) document detailing their need.
