We are inviting applications for a junior professor position in the area of
algorithmic discrete mathematics and algorithmic game theory, to be
filled as soon as possible. Algorithmic Discrete Mathematics and Algorithmic
Game Theory play a key role as a connecting link between Mathematics,
Computer Science, Operations Research, and various applications
in economy and industry.
The algorithmic and optimization group at RWTH spans a wide range of
areas, including mathematical programming, graph theory and algorithms,
discrete optimization, optimization under uncertainty, submodular
function optimization, algorithmic game theory, and more. As a new
faculty member, you strengthen the research and teaching in one of these
existing areas and/or you may expand the research and teaching portfolio.
We are seeking a motivated, internationally highly recognized person with
a doctoral degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Operations Re-
search or a comparable domain. We expect:
* the ability to conduct high-quality academic research reflected in
peer- reviewed highly ranged publications
* high engagement in academic teaching demonstrated by experiences
in conducting lectures and supervision of bachelor- and master thesis
* strong cooperation skills and ability to work in an interdisciplinary team
* effective communication and leadership skills
* excellent (written and verbal) proficiency in English
* participation in academic self-administration
Candidates should have a university degree and a particular ability to
undertake academic work, which is generally demonstrated by an
outstanding doctorate. Teaching ability and dedication are essential and the
application should include proof of this. Fluent German is not required to
start the position but the successful candidate will be expected to hold
classes in German within the first 5 years
