Logic Events at the University of Western Australia: September 2005

24-28 September 2005 will see two consecutive events of special interest
to Logicians take place at the University of Western Australia.

The Annual Conference of the Australasian Association for Logic will be
held starting after midday on Saturday 24th September, and continuing
until the morning of Monday 26th September. Several overseas speakers (as
well as people from Australia) have already signed up. For more details
see:

Scheduled for the following afternoon, Tuesday 27 September (as part of
the Annual Conference of the Australian Mathematics Society 27th-30th
September), is an Association for Symbolic Logic sponsored Plenary Lecture
to be delivered by Angus Macintyre (Queen Marys, London). This will be
followed by a Special Session on Logic which will continue on the morning
of Wednesday 28 September. Invited Logic Special Session Speakers include
Andreas Weiermann (U. of Utrecht), Michael Zakharyaschev (King's College,
London), Heinrich Wansing (Dresden U. of Technology) and Mark Reynolds
(U.W.A.). As a special concession, "single day registration" at the Aust.
MS Conference will extend to cover the continuation of the Special Session
(but will of course only entitle the holder to lunch on one day). For more
details see:

Abstracts are sought for contributed talks at both the AAL Conference and
the Aust. MS Special Session on Logic. It is entirely appropriate to
offer two (different) talks, one for each conference. However there is a
limit on the number which can be accepted. Abstracts (in plain text or
11pt tex/latex files) should be sent to Hartley Slater:

slaterbh@arts.uwa.edu.au

Full details of abstract requirements and closing dates can found on the
respective web sites.

SPECIAL NOTE for STUDENTS:
As the AAL Conference is sponsored by the Association for Symbolic Logic,
students (particularly graduate students) wishing to attend may apply to
the ASL for Student Travel Awards. This should be done at least three
months prior to the meeting, which means VERY SOON.

See you in September, I hope.
