Let's Talk Models! First ENCODE Workshop at EIPE/ESPhil --- Rotterdam "Let's Talk Models!" is the kick-off workshop for the NWO VIDI project ENCODE: Explicating Norms of Collective Deliberation. As part of this project, we will organize workshops on a regular basis at the EIPE/ESPhil (Erasmus University of Rotterdam). The theme of this edition is Formal Models of Deliberative Norms. In particular, a range of different models (logical, agent-based, game-theoretic and/or argument-based) of group deliberation and its norms will be presented and discussed. The ultimate aim is to understand how these models shed light on trade-offs and tensions among such norms, and on different recipes for checking and monitoring their satisfaction. The workshop takes place on Wednesday, May 26th, between 9:30 and 17:00. Confirmed speakers are: * Hun Chung (Waseda University) * Erica Yu (Erasmus University of Rotterdam) * Olivier Roy (University of Bayreuth) and Soroush Rafiee Rad (University of Bayreuth & University of Amsterdam) * Nina Gierasimczuk (Danish Technical University) For more information on the ENCODE project, see this link<https://frederikvandeputte.weebly.com/encode.html>. The schedule of the talks will be announced on this page<https://www.eur.nl/en/esphil/events/lets-talk-models-first-encode-workshop-2021-05-26> in due course. We will decide by April 1st whether the workshop is hybrid or fully online. Either way, participation to the workshop will be free of charge, but registration is required. In case you want to participate, please contact Frederik Van De Putte at vandeputte@esphil.eur.nl<mailto:vandeputte@esphil.eur.nl> and indicate whether you have any preference for an online or rather a hybrid format. This workshop is not to be confused with another, equally interesting one that takes place at the EIPE on May 18th: The potentials and pitfalls of democratic deliberation: Interdisciplinary perspectives. https://www.ozsw.nl/event-calendar/the-potentials-and-pitfalls-of-democratic-deliberation/ -- [LOGIC] mailing list http://www.dvmlg.de/mailingliste.html Archive: http://www.illc.uva.nl/LogicList/ provided by a collaboration of the DVMLG, the Maths Departments in Bonn and Hamburg, and the ILLC at the Universiteit van Amsterdam
