PhD student position in Logic (broadly conceived): Tilburg (NL)

Starting September 1, 2005, there is a Ph.D. vacancy in the field of
Logic, broadly conceived, at the faculty of Philosophy of Tilburg
University, under the guidance of prof. dr. Harrie C.M. de Swart.

Profile 

Candidates are allowed to suggest their own research topic; alternatively,
we can characterize one or more of the existing election mechanisms. If
the topic of the Ph.D. student is in the field of Social Choice Theory, he
or she will participate in the national Dutch research group on Social
Choice Theory, which has scientific meetings roughly once every two months
in Tilburg. Also participation in the Game Theory seminars and cooperation
with people in the Economics faculty of Tilburg University is strongly
recommended in that case. If the topic is in the field of Logic and/or
Formal Methods, the Ph.D.  student will participate in the Tuesday
colloquium at the Technical University of Eindhoven and possibly cooperate
with people from this university. Information about the research group

Terms of employment 

The collective labour agreement of Tilburg University applies. The
selected Ph.D. candidate will get a contract (full-time) as a
Ph.D.-student, for one year, which is concluded by an evaluation. Upon a
positive outcome of the first-year evaluation the contract will be
extended with an additional three years. The full-time Ph.D. position has
a gross monthly salary of 1813,- in the first year, increasing to 2394,-
in the fourth year.
