SCOPE

This year's installment of the BLAST conference series will take place on the campus of Vanderbilt University from August 14 to August 18, 2017. It honors the life of Bjarni Jónsson. The BLAST Conference Series circulates among different universities and focuses on Boolean Algebras, Lattices, Algebraic Logic, Quantum Logic, Universal Algebra, Set Theory, Set-theoretic Topology and Point-free Topology. Earlier installments of the series have been organized at the University of Denver (2008), New Mexico State University (2009), University of Colorado, Boulder (2010), University of Kansas (2011), Chapman University (2013), New Mexico State University (2015), and University of North Texas (2015). The central BLAST web page can be found here: http://math.colorado.edu/blast/. BLAST 2017 is supported by the National Science Foundation, the Shanks Endowment, Vanderbilt University and the Consortium for Order in Algebra and Logic. The scientific program will include nine invited lectures, t
hree tutorials and 20-minute contributed talks.
Note: On August 21st, the first total solar eclipse in the U.S. in 99 years will sweep across the country. Nashville is the largest U.S. city in the path of the eclipse. Visitors from across the globe will converge to Nashville to watch the day turning to night for a period of about two minutes, as the moon completely covers the sun. The schedule of the University, as well as the high demand for hotel space in connection with the eclipse, has prevented us from extending the conference beyond August 18.
