La Trobe University*

    - Full-time, Fixed ?term (until June 2020)  role at our Bundoora campus
    - $90,740 - $107,758 per annum plus up to 17% superannuation
    - The Department of Politics & Philosophy includes a number of disciplines. 
The four main areas offered are politics, international relations, philosophy, 
and gender sexuality and diversity studies.


A *Level B* teaching and research academic is expected to develop curriculum, 
teach and undertake research or other scholarly work relevant to the 
development of their discipline or professional field. You must have a 
demonstrated capacity to teach into a wide range of undergraduate subjects for 
the Philosophy major. Staff may also be requested to contribute to teaching in 
interdisciplinary majors such as Gender, Sexuality and Diversity Studies and/or 
our Politics, Philosophy and Economics degree. Responsibilities will include:


    - Delivery of lectures, tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, 
workshops, student field excursions, clinical sessions and studio sessions;
    - Design and maintenance of on-line provision, including assessment, blended 
learning activities, on-line tests and discussion groups;
    - Acting as subject coordinator;
    - Participate in innovative course level curriculum design, development and 
review plus involvement in professional activity;
    - Contribute to a robust and ambitious research culture, including 
demonstrated capacity to contribute to program?s research targets.


*The candidate* will possess demonstrated evidence of the following:


    - A PhD in philosophy, or equivalent qualification;
    - Demonstrated competence in teaching and curriculum development in 
philosophy, with capacity to teach at least three of the following 
undergraduate subjects (courses): Critical Thinking and Innovation, Knowledge, 
Individual and Society, Logic and Language, Ethics, Political Philosophy, 20th- 
century Philosophy, Descartes to Kant;
    - Evidence of high quality and/or high impact research in any aspect of 
Philosophy;
    - Ability to contribute to the research profile of the Philosophy program, 
including grant applications and ERA performance;
    - Demonstrated capacity to act as subject coordinator and collaborate with 
colleagues in effective delivery of team-taught subjects;
    - Demonstrated ability to participate in multidisciplinary teaching and 
research teams is highly desirable.
