Salary range: 39,324 - 63,009 pa

The School of Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Computer Science 
invites applications for three academic positions in the Department of 
Computer Science. Two of the positions are at Lecturer level (grade 8) and 
the third is at Senior Lecturer/Reader level (grade 9). The Department is 
renowned internationally for excellent research in the areas of Algorithms 
and Artificial Intelligence. Within these two areas the Department has 
nine, more specialised, research groups on topics directly related to or 
spanning Algorithms and Artificial Intelligence. For these posts, 
candidates will specifically have a track record in, or strong potential 
for, demonstrating the impact of their research.

The three posts available sit within our core areas of AI and Algorithms 
and within these we seek candidates with research expertise in one or more 
of the following topics:

- Machine learning, covering: deep learning; reinforcement learning, 
natural language processing; statistical learning and optimisation.

- Human-robot interaction, specifically focussed on: verification; 
trustworthy robots; simulation.

- AI and law, covering: knowledge representation and reasoning for the 
legal domain; information extraction from legal texts.

We seek highly professional candidates who will be expected to contribute 
in a variety of ways to the research areas mentioned above. Consequently, 
candidates should have an excellent track record of (or high potential 
for) production of quality research outputs in the area of their 
expertise; a strong interest in and evidence of (or high potential for) 
securing research funding; ability to contribute to teaching provided by 
the Department and a willingness to contribute to strengthening the impact 
of the Department?s research. The Department is involved in a number of 
collaborations within and outside the University and as such is also keen 
to strengthen its base in interdisciplinary research. The School holds an 
Athena SWAN bronze award and is committed to promoting diversity and 
equality.
