THE SIDNEY M. EDELSTEIN CENTER
FOR THE HISTORY AND PHILOSOPHY OF SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND MEDICINE
AT THE HEBREW UNIVERSITY OF JERUSALEM, ISRAEL
invites applications for
SENIOR VISITING FELLOWSHIPS for 2017-2018

The Edelstein Center invites scholars with seniority in the history and
philosophy of science to spend up to 3 months (except during the summer
vacation) at the Center in order to carry out their research and interact
with the Israeli community of researchers in these fields.

Candidates should have a record of outstanding scholarship in the field.
The Center especially encourages applications from candidates who have
common research interests with members of the Edelstein Community (see list
in the Center's website) and wish to work with them. The criteria for
evaluation are academic merit of the proposal and academic strength of the

Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Financial support will amount to the
equivalent (in NIS) of US$5000 per month, which includes a return air
ticket economy class to Israel, and apartment rental, subject to receiving
a valid contract (the university does not provide lodging). The balance
will be received as stipend or salary for the duration of the fellowship
(the sum includes tax should it be incurred). Fellows should provide
evidence of comprehensive health insurance for the duration of the stay.

Senior Fellows are expected to dedicate their time to research (and
acknowledge the support of the Center in any relevant publication or
lecture) and to participate throughout their fellowship in the Center's
activities, such as colloquia, discussion groups, conferences and
workshops. In addition, the Senior Fellows are expected to contribute
actively to the Center by initiating activities such as discussion groups
or workshops, for which the Center will provide organizational assistance
and possibly partial funding. In the application the candidates should
specify clearly in what way they intend to contribute to the Center during
their fellowships.

Applications should include: (1) A cover letter including personal details

contribute to the Center?s activities during the fellowship period; and (8)
letters of reference from two knowledgeable scholars, blinded to the
applicant, one of them by a member of the Edelstein Center?s Community (see
Center?s website for list).
