Workshop on Pictorial and Linguistic Representation

Recent philosophical research has demonstrated that issues in the theory
of representation are not just of interest in aesthetics but also have
important implications for other key areas of philosophy, such as the
philosophy of language, metaphysics and the philosophy of mind. The
present workshop will investigate in particular t he importance of the
difference between pictorial and linguistic representation. The talks will
also be of interest to researchers in related disciplines dealing with
problems of representation such as linguistics, logic, cognitive science,
and history of art.
