Job description

Within the Department of Philosophy and Moral Sciences, Ghent University, 
http://www.philosophy.ugent.be/, there is a vacancy for a fully funded PhD 
position in the context of the FWO project, "Anti-Mathematicism in 
Philosophy" directed by Prof. Dr. Eric Schliesser. The project focuses on 
(debates over) the limits, if any, on formal philosophy. The project is 
designed to stimulate historical and systematic approaches to the topic.

result in a doctoral thesis. From the first year contributions to 
international conferences are expected. The investigator is expected to 
publish research results regularly in international scientific journals. 
It is expected that the successful candidate will organize regular 
workshops on their topic during the grant. During his/her research the 
successful applicant is expected to spend periods of residence at leading 
universities abroad. The researcher is expected to contribute to the 
vibrant intellectual community of the department, and s/he is committed to 
keep developing as a philosopher. There are also some teaching 
opportunities.

Profile of the candidate

Profile of the candidate: Independent, ambitious thinker. Enterprising 
type who likes to engage in shared intellectual inquiry. MA in Philosophy 
Excellent command of written English. Willingness to learn Dutch, if 
necessary.
