Second Circular and Call for Abstracts

The Department of English and General Linguistics at University of Lodz 
announces the Fourth International Conference on Philosophy of Language 
and Linguistics (PhiLang2015)

The principal aim of our Conference is to bring together philosophers, 
logicians and linguists; next year we would like the papers to address the 
following general issues (the list is not exhaustive):

- Philosophy of Language meets Philosophy of Mind

- Philosophy of language, linguistics and literary theory

- Philosophical background of semantic and pragmatic theories

- Metaphilosophy and philosophy of language



We also plan a special session on the "Philosophical and linguistic 
analyses of reference".

The following scholars have accepted our invitation to address the 
conference as plenary speakers:

Manuel García-Carpintero (Departament de Lògica, Història i Filosofia de

Joanna Odrow??-Sypniewska (Institute of Philosophy, University of Warsaw) 
Context, Vagueness, and Reference

Marián Zouhar (Institute of Philosophy, Slovak Academy of Sciences) 
Against Descriptivism: On an Essential Difference between Proper Names and 
Definite Descriptions

Abstracts of papers, in MS Word format, of max. 300 words (followed by 5-7 
key terms) should be forwarded by e-mail to: 
<mailto:philang2015@uni.lodz.pl> philang2015@uni.lodz.pl.

Deadline for submission is 30 November 2014. Presentations should last 
maximum 30 minutes (including discussion and questions). Notification of 
acceptance will be sent by 1 March 2015.

A volume of selected conference proceedings will be published with an 
international publisher;  we also plan a special volume on "Philosophical 
and linguistic analyses of reference".

The conference fee is 200 EUR (125 for doctoral students); 350 PLN (200 
for doctoral students) for participants from Poland. It covers the cost of 
participation, conference materials, lunch meals, and conference dinner.

Accommodation will be provided at the University Conference Center, Lodz, 
Kopcinskiego 16/18 ( <http://www.csk.uni.lodz.pl> www.csk.uni.lodz.pl). 
Single and double rooms are available. The cost of a single room per night 
is 140 PLN, double 210 PLN, breakfast is included in the price.
