Call for applications

One PhD position (public service salary TV-L 13, 65%) is available at the 
Institute of Philosophy II of Ruhr-Universität Bochum. The position is 
connected to the Lichtenberg-professorship awarded to Prof. Tobias 
Schlicht and is part of a research project on ?Situated Cognition?, funded 
by the Volkswagen Foundation. Thus, candidates should be interested in 
working on a PhD project in the area of philosophy of mind with a special 
focus on such topics as perception, social cognition, intentionality, 
embodiment, extended mind, among others. Applicants are expected to have 
an excellent M.A. (or Staatsexamen) degree in either Philosophy or 
Cognitive Science and a strong background in Philosophy of Mind. Mastering 
the German language is not required. At Ruhr-Universität Bochum it is 
possible to obtain a PhD with a thesis written either in German or 
English. A cumulative PhD is also possible. The research group is part of 
the ?Center for Mind, Brain and Cognitive Evolution? and thus connected to 
the psychology and neuroscience departments. Both the Institute with its 
research groups and the Center with its many international visiting 
fellows provide an exciting environment and excellent facilities for a PhD 
project in this area. The position is available immediately or upon mutual 
agreement for three years. Candidates should be prepared to start as soon
