Call for expressions of interest to host HOPOS 2016

HOPOS 2016
The 11th Biennial Meeting

Call for Expressions of Interest to Host

The HOPOS Steering Committee invites expressions of interest to host HOPOS
2016, the 11th biennial meeting of the International Society for the
History of Philosophy of Science. In accord with past practice the
committee anticipates selecting a North American location for HOPOS 2016,
but all expressions of interest will receive full consideration.

HOPOS biennial meetings are held in late June or early July, from
Wednesday or Thursday through Sunday, and are sponsored by one or more
academic institutions. HOPOS meetings attract a thriving international
community eager to hear each meeting?s approximately one hundred and
twenty scholarly talks, including plenary talks from the field?s most
distinguished historians and philosophers. For further information about
past HOPOS meetings, see http://hopos.org/conferences.html; for more
information about HOPOS, see hopos.org.

Institutions interested in hosting HOPOS 2016 should send brief (less than
three page) letter to that effect to Gary Hardcastle, HOPOS
Vice-President, at ghardcas@bloomu.edu by February 1, 2014. The Steering
Committee will invite full proposals from selected institutions by
February 15, 2014; full proposals will be due by May 15, 2014. The
Steering Committee anticipates selecting a location for HOPOS 2016 at its
June meeting during HOPOS 2014 in Ghent.

Letters of interest should briefly describe the institution?s resources
and experience with respect to the hosting of a four-day conference for
two hundred people, mentioning, for example, the range and quality of the
institution?s conference facilities, its ability to offset meeting costs
via sponsorship or fund-raising, the strength of its HOPOS community, and
local resources of interest to HOPOS members.
