PhD-Position at the University of Stuttgart

A full-time PhD position (salary TV-L 13, 50%) in Philosophy of Simulation 
is available at the Institute for Philosophy

University of Stuttgart (www.uni-stuttgart.de), commencing September 15 or 
October 1 2013.

The position is open to candidates with a Master's degree in philosophy or 
a related discipline and an interest in working in a very active 
international and interdisciplinary research environment.

The position is funded by and placed within the Cluster of Excellence 
Simulation Technology (www.simtech.uni-stuttgart.de) for an initial period 
of three years. The successful candidate is expected to become a member of 
the SimTech Graduate School and conduct research in the area of philosophy 
of computer simuations, especially with regard to philosophy of science 
and epistemology. Prior knowledge in the following fields is appreciated 
but not mandatory: computer science, mathematics, visualization, cognitive 
science, pedagogy, media- and communication science.  A strong interest in 
interdisciplinary collaboration and a solid philosophical background, 
however, are prerequisites for a successful application.
