Senior Lectureship in Philosophy of Science, Stockholm (Sweden), Deadline: 11 Jun 2013

Senior Lecturer in Theoretical Philosophy, with a specialisation in The 
Philosophy of Science to the Department of Philosophy. Ref no: SU 
FV-1158-13. Deadline for applications: June 11, 2013.

Responsibilities: The primary duties are teaching, including supervision 
of students and course leadership, and conducting own research within 
Theoretical Philosophy, with special focus on the philosophy of science. 
The teaching requirements include courses in the philosophy of science for 
students in other disciplines, including the social sciences and the 
humanities. The holder of the position shall be prepared to take on 
administrative and leadership duties, and to actively help with securing 
external funding for research at the department.

Qualification requirements: Qualified to be employed as a senior lecturer 
is a person who has been awarded a PhD in Philosophy with a specialisation 
in Theoretical Philosophy, or has the corresponding research competence, 
and has demonstrated university level teaching expertise. Teaching 
expertise should be demonstrated through teaching and supervision 
experience.

The applicant must have the ability to collaborate with others, as well as 
the ability and suitability otherwise needed to perform the duties well.

Swedish language skills are not a requirement at the time of entering the 
position. The applicant should, however, be prepared to carry out teaching 
and administration tasks that require knowledge of the Swedish language 
within a couple of years.

Assessment criteria: Special and equal emphasis will be put on scientific 
proficiency, as demonstrated by own research, and to pedagogical skills in 
the subject area as demonstrated by teaching and supervision. The teaching 
expertise is to be well-documented, making it possible to evaluate the 
quality of the teaching activities.

Emphasis will be put on a documented ability to collaborate with 
colleagues, staff members and other researchers.

Emphasis will also be put on administrative proficiency and the ability to 
collaborate with the surrounding society and to inform about research and 
development. Emphasis will also be put on successfully having applied for 
and received research funds for projects from external research funding 
bodies.

Teaching and learning theory: Higher education teaching theory, or 
corresponding knowledge obtained in another manner, is to be given credit. 
Candidates lacking formal advanced education in teaching theory, 
corresponding to a minimum of 7.5 higher education credits, and who are 
judged not in possession of corresponding teaching skills, must pursue 
such studies during the first two years of employment.
