Ben Yaacov receives 2003 Sacks Prize

The ASL Committee on Prizes and Awards has selected Itay Ben Yaacov of the
MIT as the recipient of the 2003 Sacks Prize for the best PhD
dissertation in logic.

He received his PhD in 2002 from the Universite de Paris VII under the
supervision of Daniel Lascar with a thesis entitled "Theories simples:
construction de groupes et interpretabilite generalisee" which was cited
by the Committee as "a major contribution to pure model theory on two
intimately related fronts: an extension of simplicity theory beyond the
first order context, and the interpretability of groups in simple
theories."
